Tikahs Shoes for Kids Foundation is named in honor of the late Tikah Jere, who passed away from cancer. She was a compassionate woman dedicated to helping the less fortunate, and her legacy of kindness and generosity continues through this initiative.
Jodi has always been drawn to children, finding joy in playing and laughing with them. His love for children deepened when, while working for an NGO in a rural area, he noticed children walking to school without shoes. This sight touched his heart, and he began thinking of ways to help.
His resolve strengthened when he moved to a new area and once again saw children walking to school without proper shoes every day. Deeply moved, he shared the idea of starting a foundation with his wife, Josephine, to provide shoes to underprivileged children. She immediately supported the idea, believing it could make a meaningful impact.
The foundation was named in honor of Tikah Jere, Jodi’s late mother-in-law, whom he loved dearly. They shared cherished moments watching soccer together, and he admired her kindness and generosity—she often welcomed vulnerable people into her home. Founding Tikahs Shoes for Kids Foundation was a tribute to her compassionate spirit.
Josephine Millioni has always been passionate about helping vulnerable children and young people. From the age of 15, she began sensitizing girls about their rights and raising awareness of the impact of HIV and AIDS. She also initiated efforts to distribute food, shoes, and clothing to villages across Zambia.
With years of dedication, Josephine has worked with various NGOs in Zambia, focusing on empowering vulnerable girls and women. Her commitment to social impact led her to co-found Tikahs Shoes for Kids Foundation with her husband, Jodi, to provide shoes to impoverished children. She envisions a poverty-free society where every child has access to necessities and opportunities for a better future.
Josephine holds dual master’s degrees in education and development and is currently pursuing a PhD in Development Studies.
Their relationship is built on love and deep friendship, and they share a strong commitment to kindness and helping those in need. Through their shared values, they strive to make a positive impact in the lives of vulnerable children and communities.
